First off, there is no such thing as an “illegal length” for wearing mascara. But since it has such a cool name, it definitely deserves some attention, especially considering that it belongs to the Maybelline range of products. I hate wearing fake eye lashes; to me, nothing beats the real thing. To some extent one could say that this product does break every “law” of lengthening, since it allows you to build lashes with 4mm of measurable extensions.  Illegal length mascara uses a patented sealing formula and fiber X brush, giving your lashes a distinctively longer look.

Mascara is often the trickiest make up to apply, with a goal to enhance your lashes so as to make your eyes seem brighter and bigger. The tricky part of its application is getting the desired effect, without evidence of loads of mascara. However, since most mascara wands tend to be thick; accomplishing this goal can be next to impossible. Illegal length mascara is designed to make up for this design flaw by using a straight line brush, with bushy bristles. The brush does a good job at pulling lashes up and out, and also surprisingly well at creating curls.

I amazed by its performance after just a single application, making my lashes look longer instantly. Illegal length mascara also does a good job with volume, as compared to other mascaras which promise both volume and length, but only end up being good at one thing.

My first try of the product was not so smooth, I felt like a lash was stuck in my right eye, which was just a nuisance most of the day. But, after a couple of trials I was able to get the hang of it. The mascara stayed put for the most part of the day and came off easily at night, with a dab of lukewarm water.  My eye lashes did not clamp up after additional coats, which was a welcome change from the old.

As far as the application of the mascara goes, I found the wand to be big enough to load enough mascara formula, but textured enough to grab the little lashes at the corners of my eyes. I usually prefer bigger wands, but this one does its job well enough.

This is of the best mascaras I’ve picked up from a drug store, in awhile. It performed exceptionally well, gave my eye lashes good length and a fuller look to my eyes.
