During the fall and winter, I easily get dry, sensitive skin. I get flakes all over my nose, dry, tight cheeks and a dull, greyish, lifeless complexion.

And, though usually my skin is not very reactive, during the cold months, I have to be very careful about any new products I want to use. Even the skincare lines that are supposed to be mild, organic and sensitive-skin-friendly can make my skin red, itchy and irritated.

That is why I love natural face masks with honey! The following face mask keeps all these things under control. It is one of my favorite skincare products ever – gentle, but deep-nourishing, moisturizing, restoring and revitalizing. Plus, it has some badass anti-aging properties (it’s never too soon to start preventing premature aging signs).

If you have all the ingredients (and most of us do at all times), you need less than 5 minutes and practically no effort to mix up this mask, and here’s how:

The Best DIY Face Mask Dry, Sensitive Skin

You will need:

  • 1 large tablespoon mashed banana
  • 2 teaspoons raw, organic honey
  • 1 teaspoon jojoba oil (or any other natural oil)
  • a squeeze of lemon juice
  • oatmeal powder – as needed

Step 1:

First mash a piece of banana with a fork – just enough to get a tablespoon of banana puree. Mash well until you get rid of all the lumps – the smoother your mask is, the better your skin can absorb it.

Banana is a very nourishing fruit with tones of benefits for your skin. And its texture makes it perfect for natural face masks.

Step 2:

Add the honey, jojoba oil and lemon juice. Mix everything well, to get a smooth paste.

DIY face masks with honey have anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, antimicrobial, healing and restoring effects to the skin.

Jojoba oil is one of the best natural moisturizers, as its texture is very similar to the texture of sebum our skin naturally produces.

Lemon juice refreshes and purifies the skin, fights acne and blackheads, brightens the skin and fades acne marks and dark spots.

Step 3:

Add the oatmeal powder. The best would be to use colloidal oatmeal, but you can also use finely ground rolled oats or oat flour. But make sure that the product you are using is organic – you don’t want any pesticides and other toxic chemicals on your skin.

Add just enough oatmeal powder to get a smooth mixture you can easily apply to your skin. But don’t add any more than that – your face mask shouldn’t be too thick. Mix well.

Step 4:

Wash your face with warm water and a gentle face cleanser. You can also use some mild face scrub to exfoliate your skin. That way, your skin will even better absorb the mask.

Apply the mask to your skin in as thick a layer as you can. Leave it on for 20 – 25 minutes. Then wipe it off with a clean tissue and rinse off the residue. Apply a face cream while your skin is still slightly damp, to lock in the moisture. That way, your skin will stay smooth, youthful, healthy and well-hydrated for much, much longer.
